Tart Red Cherries
Living in New York, a blue state, you might be surprised that the campaign I think I can really support is all red. Yup - I'm choosing cherries! I read a lot about nutrition and the research about cherries is something I'm excited about. Cherries made the 150 Healthiest Foods list and tart cherries are the focus of a recent compelling research study. So it should be no surprise that there is a website devoted to these little beauties and I like the name Choose Cherries.
OK, so I decided to pick up some dried cherries; they'll be perfect for the biscotti recipe I've been playing with. But getting what I wanted in a dried cherry proved to be harder than I thought. So I did a little research and found King Orchards in Michigan. They offer a variety of tart cherry products including the hard to find, unsweetened, unsulfered tart dried variety. Check out their other products, I'm sure you'll find something that will get you thinking about going red.

The other thing I require from my dried cherry is that they are processed with no oils. I found a farm in Michigan (Northstar Organics) that does this and is also organic too! These are the best cherries I have ever had.
