The Next Ace of Cakes?
This is my son Andy showing off one of his many hobbies - cakes. Will he be the Next Ace of Cakes? Who knows. Right now he thinks he might like to go into medicine, but since he has another two years before he'll graduate from high school, he has time to change his mind many times.
We enjoyed all the "beary" special house guests that shared our home over Thanksgiving while they
were getting "dressed up" by Andy for display in Williams Sonoma's NY Stores.
Andy's final cake, the Bearable Grinch (top picture, center cake), is the store's contest entry for creative use
of the Build-A-Bear Workshop cake pan. It was a real thrill for Andy to deliver this cake while Bearemy was visiting
the store. Bearemy, Build-A-Bear Workshop's mascot, was apparently quite pleased with Andy's talent!

These last two pictures show the store's window display and the dreidel cake Andy made for the store's lower level. We hope you like the pictures.

You can see these cakes in person at the Williams Sonoma store at 59th & Lexington Avenue in New York City. There's more to tell but because I'm exhausted, this will be the end of our tail!

Where was he when I tried so hard to make the snow man cake last year? God Bless Him! I had a mold and it still fell apart.
So talented!!! You should be very proud. And, he looks just like his mom!

I am very proud of both my boys. Andy just happens to be the one that has always loved being in the kitchen with me. He's always looking for the next challenge or helping me test my latest recipe. Mike's appreciation of the culinary arts begins once the food hits his plate!

Amazing talent - way too artistic for medicine. He should think more about what makes him happy.

Amazing talent indeed ... and I agree with Madeline, he's way too artistic for medicine. I see a new branch of Charm City Cakes opening up in the future - with Andy as head chef, or maybe he'll be opening up "Andy's Dandy Cakes".
And yes - he really does look a lot like his mom ... and that's a BIG plus!

This was a great project for Andy. It tested his skills, as well as his endurance! The best outcome is that he's decided to learn more about the art form and take his skills to the next level. For me, that is a greater accomplishment than the completion of the these beautiful cakes.
